Reel Review: A New Way To Save Money!

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Reel is a new, women-founded savings app that helps you save up for purchases and not go into debt (or back into debt). I’m a big believer in paying off debt and not accumulating more, as those who have ready of my posts will attest. If you “can afford the payments” to finance something you want, then you can afford to set that money aside now so you can have what yout want, debt free!

Disclosure: I was asked to try out Reel and give it a review. I do recieve compensation for writing this review but all experiences and opinions are completely my own.

You can jump straight to Reel and find it what it is by clicking here, and use coupon code C-COMCENTS for a $10 credit before 2.28.22. Or, (and highly suggest this) read through my review and find out what I think makes Reel stand out from other savings options out there.

How Reel Works

Reel is a simple way to save up for any sort of purchase that you wouldn’t cover with your normal budget. You choose what you want to buy, set a savings strategy, and own it when you have enough saved up, debt free!

Once you “start a reel”, you’re deciding what you specifically want to save for. You can search from the Reel website and link to it if it’s a physical product. It could be a couch, handbag, shoes, etc. You can also save for general purposes, like a summer vacation or kids camp.

Reel provides a variety of saving strategies to make it easy for you to save up to get that particular thing. You choose daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly withdrawls from your bank account until your goal is reached. You set a timeframe as well, which determines how much will be contributed to your reel.

When you have enough saved up, if it was a product that you can order online, Reel can actually order the product for you!

You also aren’t limited to a single “reel”. You can save up for multiple things at once. My regular readers know that I have an ongoing vacation savings account so that I’m always ready to take one!

I currently have two reels of my own: one for vacation (of course) and one for a new pair of running shoes. The vacation is just a general reel so I don’t have it tied to any sort of particular deal, but the the shoes are something I can order online. Can’t wait to get these in delivered when I have the money saved!

Advantages of Reel

Reel is more than just a bank account or another savings app that takes money from your account and stash it away. Reel also gives you 1% in rewards for every dollar your save! It’s like earning interest that’s higher than most bank accounts will give you!

Reel even has a Chrome extension that will shop the interenet for you and find you the best deal on that product! The more discounts Reel can find on the product you want, the less time it will take you to save for it! If that wasn’t cool enough, it will actually place the order for you when you’ve saved enough money!

Another thing I want to highlight about Reel is how helpful and responsive its customer service is. When I didn’t apply my promo code correctly, customer service was so quick to get back to me and took care of me right away. I felt like I had a personal concierge!

The “Reel” Deal

Reel is offering a $10 credit towards your first reel if you use my code C-COMCENTS (expires 2.28.22). Here are the steps for applying your credit:

  1. Click here to go to Reel and sign up.
  2. Start your reel and find the product that you want to save for.
  3. Connect your bank account and before you hit the “start saving now”, look for the “Apply promo code” link” right aboove the “start saving now” button. (More details on promo code here: https://help.joinreel.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042744374-How-can-I-apply-a-coupon-).

Final Review

I like that Reel is so flexible in how you save up for any sort of purchase, and can even help you find deals if you’re buying a physical item. Reel goes above and beyond just helping you save money for a specific purpose. The rewards for every dollar that you save, as well as looking for the best deals on certain physical items, sets this app apart from others.

I would recommend Reel for anyone that is trying to save for something special. Reel has added so many extras that set it apart from other savings programs, and really makes it worth using.

Don’t forget to go here to sign up and use the coupon code C-COMCENTS before February 28th!
